10. Trusted Organization: The Academy of Technology Advancement is a part of United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Cincinnati, an organization that has advanced the independence of people with disabilities for over 60 years.
9. Addressing needs: The Academy addresses each student’s adult learning, community inclusion and career development needs.
8. Availability & accessibility: The Academy increases the availability, accessibility and use of information technology for teens and adults with disabilities.
7. Assessment & assistance: Each student’s needs for augmentative and alternative communication devices and computer access technology will be identified.
6. A computer for each student: Partners of The Academy provide computers for each student to use at home to reinforce classroom instruction.
5. Customized equipment:  The Academy’s Technology Lab provides a variety of software and assistive technology equipment that can be customized to each student’s needs.
4. Experienced instructors: Personalized instruction is provided by an experienced Technology Trainer and supported by a licensed Occupational Therapist.
3. Customized curriculum: Our curriculum is based on the Ohio Department of Education’s Academic Content Standards for Technology and on Certiport’s IC3 Training and Certification Program. It is customized to each student’s ability.
2. IC3 Certification: Study culminates in IC3 Certification, the Internet and Computing Core Certification program. IC3 is aglobally recognized, validated, standards-based training and certification program for basic computing, Internet knowledge and skills.
1. Increased independence: Our long-term goal is to increase the independence and expand life options and career choices of individuals with disabilities.
