The Rendigs Center, located close to Xavier University, offers an on-site and community follow-along program for high school youth and adults with physical disabilities. We serve youth ages 14-22 years old through our CareerNet program, and adults of all ages. Our Day Program offers classes at the center with many opportunities to be involved in the community. We provide personal attendant care for those who need such assistance. We also provide service coordination and Community Connection assistance for adults who are working and/or going to college.

The Rendigs Center specializes in connecting people with physical disabilities to the support that they need to enhance the quality of their lives. Even if the help you need cannot be provided directly by the Rendigs Center, we can help you find assistance and resources in the community.
Individuals do not pay a fee for our program. We are a contract agency with the Butler County and Hamilton County Boards of Developmental Disabilities Services. If you are not already connected, we will assist you in connecting you to your county board of mental retardation and developmental disabilities for possible eligibility. We are a United Way agency. The Rendigs Center is also supported through agency special fundraising events and funding from private foundations.
Yes. Nearly 50 percent of the individuals helped by the Rendigs Center do not have Cerebral Palsy. Our focus is with individuals with physical disabilities, which may be a result of many conditions, not just Cerebral Palsy.
We promote independence at the Rendigs Center and encourage our individuals to be responsible for organizing their own transportation to and from the Center. Our Service Coordinator can assist you in locating a variety of transportation resources if necessary. UCP offers transportation for a fee; however, it is on a very limited basis.
About 45 individuals come to our program, however, on average approximately 30 persons attend our programs each day. Persons are welcome to come as many days of the week (Monday-Friday) as they would like. We also serve approximately 10 adults who are either working and/or attending college. In addition, twenty high school students receive our career help at their high schools.
A typical day at the Rendigs Center consists of attending a variety of classes, some of which include math, work skills, art, crafts, recreation, and fitness. Other days are inclusive of field trips, such as visiting an Art Museum, Art Studio, bowling, shopping, speaking to a school group, or going to an advocacy meeting. If you are interested in work, there are work skills classes and you will meet individually with a member of our career staff. There is also a great microenterprise,
World Images Unlimited, which operates out of the Rendigs Center. Our classes are developed with the input of individuals, so the classes and activities reflect this. In addition to classes, there is the opportunity to do a lot of socializing with others. Many good friendships are started at the Rendigs Center. We offer classes for all levels of ability, excluding individuals who need continual one to one medical and behavioral supervision, are violent, or are a threat to others or themselves.
The Rendigs Center has a list of resources for people with disabilities and their families. Our resources are updated as necessary to include new services or changes in services no longer offered.
The Rendigs Center does not directly offer scholarships however, the Service Coordinator, Amy Wylie, connects and refers individuals to the appropriate support based upon specific financial needs.
There are opportunities for support groups during our day program. At this time we do not have evening groups but are open to starting a group. Call Amy Wylie, the Rendigs Center Service Coordinator, if you are interested.
